Running Accomplishments:

I've been running consistently for almost twenty years. I've done a couple of marathons. 

Short-Term Running Goals:

In 2016: At least 17 miles a week, 67 a month, 800 for the year

Sub 26:00 5K

Sub 55:00 10K

Sub 2:00 half (if I decide to do one this year :)

 

Long-Term Running Goals:

Run another marathon, maybe. Someday. If I feel like it.

Personal:

I love my husband and my four children and running lets me spend more time with them!

I had a nice four-miler planned for today. I was going to get up early, but due to circumstances beyond my control I wasn't in bed until almost 1:00 last night. I should have got up anyway, but I know from experience that sleep is as important to my health and well-being as running is. I have to find a way to fit both. Anyway. My half-mile run was on top of Cedar Mountain late this afternoon. Remind me never to go up there in the winter ever again. My oldest son wanted to run up the C trail and he asked me to meet him at the top and give him a ride back. It's been so dry this month, it never occured to me there would be snow up there (guess I'm still new around here). Driving in the snow is not my favorite activity, and a snow-packed mountain road with a drop off and no road barriers is the stuff my nightmares are made of. Anyway - I didn't get stuck, but I eventually parked in a dry patch and ran to meet him at the top of the C and drive him back down. At least he got 4-5 miles out of it. The things I do for my children.....

Regular route. Running partner is out of town so I did it solo. I run a little faster by myself, but it felt good.

I was hoping for four, but I forgot to look at the clock when I left and I ran a route I've never measured before. Guess I underestimated. At least there was a nice big hill involved.

I'd just like to say that turning 40 stinks. Actually, I haven't turned 40 yet, but it's on the horizon and I don't like it. I haven't really been concerned about it until the last couple of months when my body suddenly decided that gaining weight is fun and maintaining fitness should be really hard. We're only talking about a couple of pounds here, but it's different from what I'm used to, and it feels like a trend, and I don't like it. 

Ran to the aquatic center and back today. It was a perfectly beautiful day.

Gorgeous run up the canyon with my valentine this morning (ok - that was cheesy, but it might be the only date we get so I have to make the most of it). The uphill half was a little rough. I've been really short of breath the last couple of runs, but I didn't have heart palpitations today which was an improvement. We took it slow, and it was a perfect day for savoring the spectacular scenery and incredible weather. Actually it was a perfect Valentine's Day date - now if only the Waffle Love truck were still in town....

I don't want to overdo it after a big jump in mileage last week so I ran short today. Kind of sad that the difference between a short run and a long run is two miles. My primary goal is consistency though so I'll live with it.

A "longer" run today :)  Somehow it managed to be uphill both ways. Some people would say that means it was flat, but that was definitely not the case. It just took three-fourths of the run to get up the hill and then the last little bit was all down. I think I'll do the route backwards next time. Might as well get the torture over with as soon as possible and then enjoy a pleasant 3 miles afterwards.

Actually got up at 7:30 and got in a run before this crazy day took off. It helped that I wasn't waiting up for kids to come home late last night. It's a lot easier to get up on Saturday when you can go to bed before midnight Friday.
